Esther Brunson Obituary

Esther Irene Brunson, 100, of Alden, passed away December 28, 2018 at her residence. She was born on February 7, 1918 in Frontier County, Nebraska, the daughter of Edward and Minnie McMichael Beery. She has resided in Alden since 2013, formerly of Laverne, Oklahoma. Esther had lived in various locations throughout her life. Esther graduated from Farnam, Nebraska High School with the class of 1939, and later attended Bethel Nazarene College in Hutchinson. She worked as a psychiatric nurse’s aide in Ft. Supply, Oklahoma; worked in the Head Quarters of the Nazarene Church, in Kansas City, Kansas; and for an ammunitions plant in Kansas City, Kansas during the war. Esther was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Knowles, Oklahoma, where she raised her family as a pastor’s wife and military wife. On November 22, 1946, Esther was united in marriage with Glenn Dale Brunson in Kansas City, Kansas. He preceded her in death on November 16, 1985. She was also preceded in death by her parents; eleven siblings, Arvel, Hazel, Lloyd, Glenn, Inez, Leonard, Donald, Clinton, Dalton, Loren, and Howard; three sons, Allan Dale Brunson, Arland Edward Brunson, and Richard Brunson. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Skinner of Alden; son, David Leon Brunson of Alden; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the United Methodist Church, Alden with Pastor Rob Bolton officiating. Memorials can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
