Doris Alieta (Rogers) Meyer

Doris Alieta Meyer, 86, of Little River, passed away April 12, 2019 at Circle of Life Hospice, Bentonville, Arkansas. She was born October 12, 1932 in Marion County, Illinois, the daughter of Floyd and Lillie Bryant Rogers. Alieta has resided in Little River since 1963, formerly of Iuka, Illinois. She was a nurse at Hospital District #1 of Rice County for 25 years. Alieta was of the Southern Baptist Faith. On October 20, 1951, Alieta was united in marriage with Daniel “Danny” Meyer in Salem, Illinois. He preceded her in death on October 16, 2005. She is also preceded in death by her parents; son, David Rick Meyer; and daughter, Sharon Bridgman. Alieta was 11 of 12 children, survived by her sister, Winifred Huff of Salem, IL. She is also survived by her children, Betty Matlack of Burrton, KS, Deborah Howell of Merriam Woods, MO, Jerry Meyer of Burrton, KS, Peggy Person of Cleveland, TN, Tammy Moore of Bella Vista, AR, and Beverly Darling of Corpus Christi, TX; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M., Friday, April 19, 2019 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with Rev. Dallas Darling officiating. Burial will be at Bean Memorial Cemetery, Little River. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 P.M., Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to Doris Alieta Meyer Memorial Fund in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
