Dale Hoover

Dale Hoover, 84, of Saxman, Kansas, passed away September 20, 2019 in rural Sterling. He was born July 21, 1935 in Dade County, Missouri, the son of Herbert C. and Tessie Mae Rogers Hoover. Dale graduated from Everton High School, Everton, Missouri, and later attended Hutchinson Community College. He resided in Everton, Missouri until moving to Lyons, Kansas in 1955, and resided in Saxman since 1964. Dale was an electrician for American Salt in Lyons, and in the mid 1970’s went on to work for Hospital District #1 as an electrician and maintenance supervisor. He attended various churches in the area and was a member of the Methodist Men’s Bible Study group in Lyons. On January 19, 1957, Dale was united in marriage with Delores L. Smith in Alden, Kansas. He is survived by his children, Larry Hoover and wife Shirley of South Hutchinson, Gaylene Wilson of Hutchinson, David Hoover and wife Phyllis of Hutchinson, Melody Conner of Hutchinson, and Dala Crosby of Lowell, Michigan; two brothers, Rex Hoover and wife Sharon of Wichita/Chase, and Ray Hoover and wife LaNell of Hutchinson; sister, Alice Cassidy of Wichita; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Dale was preceded in death by his parents; son, Timothy Dale Hoover; and three brothers, Dwain, Truman, and Roy Hoover. Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, September 27, 2019 at Methodist Church, Lyons with Pastor Scott Miller officiating. A private family burial will be held at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Methodist Church, Lyons with family present. Memorials may be given to Star of Hope (formerly Haiti Love and Faith) in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
