Betty Jean Godfrey, 85, formerly of Lyons, passed away December 25, 2018 at Oakview Estates, Pittsburg, Kansas. She was born on December 2, 1933 in Ellis, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph and Agatha Gaschler Weber. She graduated from Ellis High School, Ellis, Kansas with the class of 1950. Betty has resided in Pittsburg since 2012, formerly of Lyons for 50 plus years. She was a homemaker, owner of Daylight Donuts, Lyons, and retired from Sterling Drug in 1990. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, cross-stitch and quilting. Betty was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Pittsburg, and Altar Society. On November 14, 1953, Betty was united in marriage with Norman E. Godfrey in Ellis, Kansas. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Sharon Hoffman; brothers, Ralph Weber, John Weber, and two infant brothers, Willie and Joseph Jr.; sisters, Rosie, Florence and Pauline; and granddaughter, Kylie Dawn Holder. She is survived by her four daughters, Melanie Sinnett and husband Joseph of Pittsburg, KS, Janna Foss and husband Russell of Hutchinson, KS, Cindy Webb and husband Aaron of Overland Park, KS, and Lisa Bolton of Wichita, KS; son, Brent Godfrey and wife Kerry of Lyons, KS; two sisters, Ella Dechant of Hays, KS and Janet Gagnon of Fairfax, VA; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 28, 2018 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons with Father Patrick Kotrba officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M., Friday, December 28, 2018 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons with Parish Rosary at 1:30 P.M. Burial will be at Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons, Kansas. Memorials can be made to St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
