Barbara Boyd Obituary

Barbara Helen Boyd, 73, of Sterling, passed away December 25, 2017 at Hospice House of Hutchinson. She was born on July 1, 1944 in New London, Connecticut, the daughter of James and Margaret Kenyon Scanlon. She graduated from St. Bernard’s High School in New London, CT, with the class of 1962. Barbara has resided in Sterling since 1968, formerly of New London, CT. She was a secretary for the Sterling Grade School for 28 years, retiring in 2009. Barbara was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Lyons, and the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary in Sterling. On June 24, 1968, Barbara was united in marriage with Charles Boyd in Wichita, KS. He preceded her in death on December 10, 1993. She is also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Rebecca “Bec” Boyd; two sisters, Loretta Tardibuono, and Claire Scanlon. She is survived by her daughter, Traci and Steve Miller of Gt. Bend, KS; brother, James and Chris Scanlon of Brooklyn, NY; two grandchildren, Aaron and Aiden Miller; and the Scanlon, Delaney, Kenyon, and King families. Funeral Service will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 29, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church, Sterling with Pastor Michael Gray officiating. Burial will be at Sterling Community Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Memorials can be made to the Hospice House of Hutchinson or Riley Elementary School Neon Sign Fund in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
