Anna Marie (Manwarren) Young

Anna Marie Young, 77, of Lyons, passed away October 27, 2017, at her residence. She was born February 4, 1940 in Geneseo, KS, the daughter of William Earl and Lois Erwin Manwarren. She was a lifelong Rice County resident. Anna Marie graduated from Lyons High School with the class of 1957, and Business College in Greenville, SC. She was a farm wife, secretary at the extension office, and was a teller at Chandler Bank in Lyons. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Lyons; Oakland Homemakers Association EHU of Lyons; Mariners; volunteer at the Thrift Shop in Lyons; served on the Lyons Public Library Board; and was a 4-H leader who taught knitting and crocheting for many years. On March 4, 1960, Anna Marie was united in marriage with Dell Young in Geneseo, KS. He survives of the home. Other survivors include her son, Joe Young and Kathy Swartz of Salina, KS; daughter, Kay and Robert Frank of Sterling, KS; brother, Leon and Kay Manwarren of Tuscola, TX; sister, Joyce Middleton of Clearwater, KS; four grandchildren, Jessica and John Mehl of Lyons, Joshua and Shannon Monroe of Germany, Adam and Jordan Young, both of Overland Park, KS; five great grandchildren, Jaydon, Jaxson, and Jordyn Mehl, Makenzie and Keira Monroe. She was preceded in death by her parents, and son-in-law, Jeff Monroe. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, November 2, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church, Lyons, with Rev. Lara MacGregor officiating. Burial will be at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Memorials can be made to Boy Scout Pack #164 of Lyons, Lyons Thrift Shop, Coronado Quivira Museum, or the United Presbyterian Church, Lyons in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
