Alfred Ray "Al" Miller

Alfred Ray “Al” Miller, 80, of Lyons, passed away December 8, 2018 at Hospice House of Reno County, Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born August 18, 1938 in Russell Township, Kansas, the son of Alexander Edward and Lillian Miller. He graduated from St. John High School, St. John, Kansas with the class of 1956. Al has resided in Lyons since 1964, formerly of Stafford County, Kansas. He was a farmer; cowboy for Sellers Feed Yard, Lyons; and head mechanic for Rickabaugh Motors, Lyons for several years. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Lyons, where he had served as an elder and vice president; member of NRA; and Liars Fishing Club, Lyons. On April 18, 1959, Al was united in marriage with Karon Rice in Sterling, Kansas. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his daughter, Angie McClure and husband Terrence of Hutchinson, KS; son, Aaron Miller and companion, Kristine of Hutchinson, KS; two brothers, Larry Miller of Kingman, AZ, and Russell Miller and wife Ella of Billings, MT; two sisters, Norma Beitler of Wichita, KS, and Marj Littlejohn and husband Bob of Richland, WA; seven grandchildren, Zachary Chaffee-McClure and wife Katie of Roeland Park, KS, Tyler McClure and wife Linh of Kissimmee, FL, Shea and Mallory Miller both of Goddard; five great-grandchildren, Ray, Franny, Quin, and Maryjune Chaffee-McClure, Evie McClure; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Andrew “Andy” Miller, brother, Dwayne Miller; and nephew, Lynn Miller. Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Grace Lutheran Church, Lyons with Pastor Kenton Abbott officiating. Burial will be at Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with family present. Memorials can be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Lyons in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
