Freda Imogene (Brumley) Scheikofsky

Freda Imogene Scheikofsky, 87, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away March 27, 2024, with her family by her side. She was born May 29, 1936, in Woodward, Oklahoma, the daughter of Edd and Mary “Anna” (Kornele) Brumley. Imogene graduated from Woodward High School with the class of 1954. She lived in Wichita, Kansas, prior to moving to Johnson, Kansas and Newton, Kansas; prior to returning to Wichita for the last fifteen years of her life. Imogene worked as a “Medication Nurse” at a rest home in Ulysses, Kansas, for three years, before moving to Newton and opening her own beauty salon. She operated the salon for twenty years before retiring and returning to Wichita. She leaves behind her husband of twenty-two years, Eugene Scheikofsy of the home; three children, Don Feil of Chase, KS, Deborah Ast and husband Steve of Wichita, KS, and “Ed” Feil of Sterling, KS; five grandchildren, Travis Feil of Wichita, KS, Celena Feil of Chase, KS, Jordan Ast of Wichita, KS, Chelsey Ast of Lenexa, KS, and Alexandra Komarick of Ellinwood, KS; and six great-grandchildren, Levi Feil of Wichita, KS, Malachi Feil of Colorado Springs, CO, Justin Oberle and Mackenzie Oberle both of Chase, KS, and Eloise Ast and Roselyn Ast both of Wichita, KS. Imogene is preceded in death by her parents, Edd and Anna Brumley; first husband of twenty-six years, Carl M. Thompson; two brothers, Edward Brumley and Lewis Brumley; three sisters, Alice M. Chase, Pauline Beagley, and Betty Sanger; and first grandson, Jason M. Salmans. Graveside service will be at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick, Kansas, with Pastor Gregg Sweet officiating. Memorials may be given to Kansas Humane Society, Wichita, in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
