Elvin Francis "Eck" Evans

Elvin Francis “Eck” Evans, 86, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away March 9, 2024, at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, Little River. He was born August 21, 1937, in Seiling, Oklahoma, the son of Charles William Edgar and Cleo Edna (Saylor) Evans. Eck graduated from Taloga High School. On May 17, 1956, Eck was united in marriage with Elaine Farris in Taloga, Oklahoma. Their family was made complete with the birth of Vicki on May 31, 1957. Elaine and Vicki preceded him in death on January 13, 2022 and October 13, 2013, respectively. Eck grew up in Oklahoma and moved to Chase, Kansas, in 1964. In 1972, Eck moved his printing business and family to Lyons. In 1984 he embarked on a new career in farming, moving the family near Mitchell, Kansas. Eck, Elaine and Vicki worked alongside each other at Evans Printing and Evans Farms for many years. Eck was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Lyons. On May 29, 2022, Eck was united in marriage with Willa Morris. Eck is survived by his wife, Willa Gale Evans of Lyons, KS; nephew, Mike Myers and wife Julie of Hardtner, KS; and sister-in-law, Gene Myers and husband John of Alva, OK. He is preceded in death by parents, wife, Elaine; daughter, Vicki Evans; siblings, Billy Gene Evans, Nathalee Evans, Ivan Cleon Evans, Charlette Kay Evans, Edgar Don Evans; step siblings, Ellis Evans, Alven Evans, and Juanita Myers; and nephew, Lee Duane Evans. Graveside service will be at 2:30 P.M., Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons. Visitation will be from 12:30 until 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with family present. Memorials may be given to the Church of the Nazarene (for the building fund) or Traditions Hospice in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
