Ronald Groth Obituary

Ronald R. Groth, 65, died Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at his residence in Sterling.  He was born February 6, 1951 in Sterling, the son of Raymond and Bea Woody Groth.  Ron was a lifetime Sterling resident.  He graduated from Sterling High School with the class of 1969, and from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center in Yoder.  Ron was a retired Chief of Police for the City of Sterling.  He was a lifetime member of the Kansas Association of Chief of Police; former member of the Kansas Police Association; American Legion, Sterling; NRA; and Sterling Housing board member.   On August 18, 1970, Ron was united in marriage with Deena Cain in Sterling.  She survives of the home.  Other survivors include his son, Tyler and Sarah Groth, Mulvane, KS; daughter, Tracy and Candice Groth, Sterling; brother, Don and Debbie Groth, Hutchinson; 3 sisters, Judy Cox, Lyons, Connie and Johnnie McPherson, Haysville, KS, and Mary Groth, Rolla, MO; two grandchildren, Lillian and Easton Groth.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the United Methodist Church, Sterling with Rev. Jeff Miller and Rev. Ron DeVore officiating.  Burial will be at the Sterling Community Cemetery.  Memorials can be made to the Sterling Police Department or United Methodist Church, Sterling  in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
