Mary V. (Selby) Matthias

Mary V. Matthias 95 died September 11, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri.  She was born November 29, 1921 at Greensburg to Louis and Ethel Logan Selby.  She was resident of Lyons since 1944 formerly of Greensburg where she graduated Greensburg High School and attended Haviland College.   She was the Bookkeeper and Co-Owner of Grand Radiator in Lyons. Mary was a member of Assembly of God, Women’s Missionary Council; a Gray Lady at Lyons Hospital; volunteered at Park Place and the Thrift Shop all of Lyons; attended Emanuel Baptist Church.

On February 21, 1942 at Greensburg she married Hans J.  “Slim” Matthias, he died on August 11, 2004. She is survived by daughters, Marylin Hinkle, Overland Park, Mary “Beth” & Craig Myers, Little River; daughter-in-law Joyce Middleton, Clearwater; 2 grandchildren, Kimberly Rommel, Jeff Creswell; 3 great-grandchildren, Holden Goertzen, William Creswell, Jacob Creswell.  She was preceded by her parents; son, William “Bill” Matthias and son-in-law Bud Hinkle.

Funeral Service is 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with Rev. Robert Friesen officiating. Graveside Service is 2:00 P.M., Saturday, September 16, at Fairview Cemetery, Greensburg

Visitation 2:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday, September 15, 2017 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons
