Laurence Leon Archer, 70, of Lyons, passed away March 6, 2018. He was born on July 16, 1947 in Lyons, KS, the son of Charles and Berta Dee Strohm Archer. He graduated from Lyons High School with the class of 1965, and from West Point Military Academy in 1969. Following his military career, Laurence received his veterinarian degree from Kansas State University in 1980. Laurence was a near lifelong Lyons resident. He worked as a Veterinarian from 1980 to 2004. He served in the United States Army from 1965 until 1979, attaining the rank of Major. Laurence was a member of First Baptist Church, Lyons, where he served as a church trustee. On December 22, 1971, Laurence was united in marriage with Linda Haag in Lyons. He is survived by his wife, Linda Archer of Lyons; mother, Berta Dee Archer of Lyons; three children, Brian and Kristi Archer of McPherson, KS, Holly and Chad Miller of Geneseo, IL, and Kevin and Crystal Archer of Bennington, NE; two brothers, Bob and Leslie Archer of Wilsonville, OR, and Mike and Chris Archer of Wichita, KS; sister, Patti and Ted Jobst of Estes Park, CO; seven grandchildren, Madison and Allison Miller, Makenzie, Lindzie, and Bryson Archer, Quinton and Colton Archer. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Archer. Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 10, 2018 at First Baptist Church, Lyons with Pastor Joel Grizzle officiating. Burial will be at Lyons Municipal Cemetery with military honors by the Ft. Riley Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:30 P.M., Friday, March 9, 2018 at First Baptist Church, Lyons with family present from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church, Lyons, in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
