James Moore Brown, 64, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away September 16, 2019 at his home. He was born December 9, 1954 in Santa Ana, California, the son of George M. and Estelle S. Nickens Brown. James has resided in Hutchinson since 2002, formerly of Lyons, Kansas. He attended Hutchinson High School. James was a retired truck driver for Dahlsten, and he also worked at Auto Zone for seven years. He served in the United States Army from 1974 until 1978, and from 1981 until 1984; and for two years in the Kansas Army National Guard. He is survived by his son, Timothy James of Hutchinson; four daughters, Heather Nickels and husband Mike, Stephanie McClure, Kara Brown, and Ayla Brown all of Hutchinson; brothers, Ralph Brown and wife Lisa of Gulf Port, MS, Kevin Brown and wife Rita of Ponchatoula, LA, and Jeff Brown and wife Michelle of Lyons, KS; two sisters, Lori Brady, and Shirley Brown both of Joplin, MO; and nine grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Karen C. Mayfield; and paternal and maternal grandparents. Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons. Burial will be at Lyons Municipal Cemetery with military honors by the Ft. Riley Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 P.M., Friday, September 20, 2019 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to Wounded Warrior Project in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
